A Day In The Life Of Me

Sleeping, Cookies, and Mice.

I'm turning into a sleeping machine. Tuesday night I went to bed and didn't get up till 9:30. Then I took an hour and a half nap. Yes, I'm sad. Sad, but well rested :)

I had tons of studying to do for my stats test, and I had slept too much, so I was in a bad mood. And I was restless. I studied on 2 different beds, a couch, the floor, my desk, in the computer room, at the kitchen table; I was all over! Finally, after supper, I cleaned up the kitchen and make cookies. Making cookies always puts me in a good mood. And eating them makes me even happier. They turned out perfect. And I was happy.

So far, we have found 5 mice in our basement, none of them being the big brown one I saw.

I couldn't find my car this morning. Adam sealed the driveway yesterday, and my car was out front instead of in the garage.

I love chai tea.

I hate statistics.

A Mouse "Tail" Continued

Well, as you can see by the picture, a mouse was found yesterday. I was sitting in my room and Evan was on the computer right outside the door when he pipes up and says "Hey, a mouse just ran under here." I wasn't getting off my chair, so I called the house phone from my cell phone to inform Adam that the mouse had been sighted. He tired to put some sticky traps around, but the mouse never went on them. Then it started to move away from the desk, so he got his bb gun and shot it. I was pretty excited about until I got a closer look. And.....it wasn't the mouse that I had seen!!! My mouse had been much bigger and brown. Even Adam affirmed that it was not the mouse previously seen in my shower.

So, now I was freaked because where there are 2 mice, there usually more. Later in the afternoon this was agreed upon as Luke discovered a baby mouse whose eyes weren't even open yet. Adam shot this one with his bb gun too. We are suspecting that there is a mouse nest somewhere in our basement. My dad brought home a bunch of snap and sticky traps, some of which (in the words of my mom) look big enough to catch a dog. My suggestion was to place them all across the door ways of my bathroom and bedroom so no mice can get in and I can move back downstairs (yes, I am still living upstairs). My dad laughed, but he didn't do it. :(

I'm not sure how long I'm going to survive living upstairs. Pretty soon, mice are going to sound like better roommates/bathroom mates than my siblings.

A Mouse "Tail"

Last night I got home from church, and I was tired and looking forward to a hot shower and a soft bed. I prepared to shower in my room, and then went into the bathroom. I turned on the light and headed over to the shower to close the curtain and start the water. But before I got halfway there, I noticed that sitting on the drain was a nasty brown mouse. I screamed, and went flying up the stairs and almost right into my brother. He just stood there in awe of his not-so-modestly dressed sister who was screaming something about a mouse. He went downstairs with me, and the mouse was nowhere to be seen. Adam assured me that the mouse was gone. I was standing on the bathroom counter so I decided to be brave and pull back the curtain a little more, and sure enough, sitting there on the ledge was the mouse. At the point I deemed it necessary to inform the entire household, as well as the next door neighbors that the mouse had been located. As the mouse climbed out of the shower, onto the floor, and towards the door, I proceeded to stand on the counter screaming at the mouse to stop. It didn't listen to me, and went out the door and disappeared to somewhere. I was not going to wait around for the mouse to show up in bed with me, so I promptly moved many of my belongings upstairs, where I am planning on living until the mouse in caught.

And if that wasn't bad enough......

This morning I was at the computers at school typing an email while absentlymindedly eating a granola bar. I noticed it tasted funny, and as I examined it and the inside of the wrapper closer, I noticed that there were bugs all over both. *shudder* I made a quick trip to the garbage can, and promptly put some gum in my mouth (don't ask me what the gum was supposed to do. It just made me feel better).

I really don't have much to say, but what's new. Seriously, my life is school. Well, expect for weekends, which I fully take advantage of and do no homework whatsoever. This past weekend was no exception. I went with Washington young group to Apple River state park. I had to go back Saturday night, so I drove and followed the bus. Jenny rode with me to keep me company and we had some good talks. We also listened to a really random selection of music, provided by Luke who let me borrow his almost 500 cd's. (ok, so I might be exaggerating a little bit.) We drove a lot, went to Tanner's orchard, stopped for lunch, and then hiked. In case you are ever driving a car that runs of diesel, and you are in the town of Rock Falls, IL, be prepared to drive all over town looking for diesel. I went to 4 before I finally found a gas station that has it.

Hiking was really pretty. A lot of the leaves were already off the trees, but it was nice to get outside and admire the leaves that were still there. It was pretty cold though. (Yes, Jenny, it was cold.)

I drove home 3 hours by myself Saturday night, managing to arrive home about midnight safely and still awake. I was hoarse from singing at the top of my lungs for 3 hours (*grin*) but I was awake.

Sunday was Mark and Dani's wedding. Church was full, I didn't cry, they got married.....it was good. Yep, and my 8th, yes 8th, friend is engaged. Kate called me Sunday morning to tell me that she and Mike are engaged! I am so super excited! I just have to smile real big when I think of it.

So, I have some really funny quotes that have been heard around our house the past couple of days.
~ "I guess I don't get that emotionally involved in the weather forecast."
~ "Heidi, settle down and stop shaking." "I can't. I'm just so excited to eat this stew."
~ "Guys, there's still somemore dishwater casserole over here if you want more."
Yeah mom, we'll get right on eating that.

To Kansas and back again

I love not having to work weekends anymore. The best part of it is just randomly picking up and going away for the weekend, which is what I did last weekend. Until Thursday night, I wasn’t even committed to going anywhere! It was so great!

Anyways, I went to Kansas City. After packing in 5 minutes, I took off and met Luke and Kenton, and left. I was told that I make really good company when I’m tired.   :)

Saturday morning we had to get up early. KC church was having an outreach day, so I went with some other people to paint a house. I have to admit that I really like to paint. Tifani, Kenton, Chelsie and I had a paint war. I ended up with roller circles, Tony the Tiger stripes, and baby feet on my arms, fingerprints on my cheek, and a hand print on the back of my shirt. Hehe....it was fun. Tifani and I sang to keep ourselves entertained. (“Oh, I know that song.....How does it start?....Hey Chelsie! How does that song start?”)
*grin*   Good times.

After hours of painting, we left and went back to Holly’s to try to wash off the paint. Then we went to the supper, and I was informed that I have no earlobes. Afterwards we went to Alan’s and played a game in which I died.

I love the fact that Kansas City church doesn’t start till 11am. I got up at 8:45, and spent over an hour sitting around wondering why in the world I got up so early! For the ride home, I rode with Kenton and Jenny. I was forced to listen to bluegrass for over an hour! I was super bored, so I organized the stuff in Kenton’s car.  :)   (Sorry guys, but I just can’t stand bluegrass.)  And I got to eat leftover ice cream that was passed between cars driving 75 mph. And Jenny, you did not almost die. If I recall, you were safe inside a vehicle. (Ok, a vehicle that was swerving...but never mind that)

I have a math test tomorrow. I’ve actually studied hard for it. Like all day. But my mom is back on my case about needing to study.....*Sigh*

A whole lot of nothing

I really have nothing to say. Really.

I went to Taylor last weekend. I'd never been there. It was a good time.

I've been studying math. Lots and lots of math, and I'm still holding out that I stink at math and that I totally can't stand it.

My weekend is going to be insane. I have 2 tests and a paper due on Tuesday.

I've come to the realization that since starting college, my number of friends has dropped dramatically.

I was hungry this morning, so I made eggs and bacon, and had a blueberry muffin. My bacon cooking skills need some work.
